St. George is a 15 minute short film I produced in 2007 while at film school. The film features top Australian actors such as Vince Colosimo, Kate Kendall, Steve Bastoni and emerging artists Kate Neilson and Dale Reeves.
Experimental fight scene featuring Ebony Butler and Trevor Harwood.
For over twenty years Northern Uganda faced one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
Thousands were murdered, 1 million people displaced and 30,000 children were forced to become child soldiers and sex slaves.
Scars from the past still exist but song and dance help people overcome their trauma and remove the scars of the past.
I have produced an extended version of this, which is 15 minutes in duration.
This film is a video montage from my time on the border of Thailand and Cambodia. Filmed in Poipet, the video attempts to express what life is like for the innocent children forced into slavery and child labour and also those dying from AIDS, which is an ever growing problem in the region.
Child labour, sexual exploitation, human slavery, child trafficking, disease, poverty and famine is rampant and destroying thousands of lives everyday, effecting society as a whole. The children and women are the ones who suffer the most and much aid and international action is needed to help this troubled nation.
Our community projects, both local and global, involve activities that promote social change, for the betterment of society as a whole and for the protection of our planet. We use the power of media to raise awareness of the most important, under reported and time critical issues. We aim to create a more positive attitude toward caring for people in need, regardless of race or religion, promote action within the community and strive to bring about social change.
This short promotional video was produced and edited by Ebony Butler with the encouragement, assistance and the initial idea coming from Trevor Rose. The voice over is also spoken by Ebony Butler and she used her own existing footage to closely match the voice over script. The script was written by Trevor Rose and was revised by Patricia Collins and Joel Harvey.
The video was a response to an on line video competition for an ad for the website ‘Innocentive’, where Innovation and Incentive come together. The video aimed to express how people, from varied backgrounds and with contrasting experiences, have a uniquely prepared mind.
NOTE: This video was produced within one night. One long night, but nevertheless one night. Editing, voice over included. (not filming as it was shot prior!)
Kate Neilson’s acting showreel.
